സര്വ്വവിജ്ഞാനകോശം സംരംഭത്തില് നിന്ന്
കൗശികന് V
പൂരുവംശത്തിലെ ഒരു രാജാവ്. ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പിതാവ് കപിലനും സഹോദരന് ഗൃത്സപതിയുമായിരുന്നു. ഗൃത്സപതിയില് നിന്നാണ് ബ്രാഹ്മണര്, ക്ഷത്രിയര്, വൈശ്യര്, ശൂദ്രര് എന്നീ നാല് ജാതികള് ഉണ്ടായതെന്ന് അഗ്നിപുരാണം 278-ാം അധ്യായത്തില് പറയുന്നു.
