ഇംഗ്ലീഷ്‌ സാഹിത്യകാരി. തന്റെ സഹോദരന്‍ ആക്‌ലന്‍ഡ്‌ പ്രഭു ഇന്ത്യയില്‍ ഗവര്‍ണര്‍ ജനറലായിരുന്ന കാലത്ത്‌ (1836-42) അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അനുഗമിച്ച്‌ ഇന്ത്യയില്‍ എത്തിയ ഇവര്‍ ഇവിടത്തെ സാമൂഹിക സാംസ്‌കാരിക മേഖലകളെ അധികരിച്ച്‌ രചിച്ച കൃതികള്‍ ഏറെ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. അവയില്‍ പ്രധാനം പോര്‍ട്രയ്‌റ്റ്‌സ്‌ ഒഫ്‌ ദ്‌ പീപ്പിള്‍ ആന്‍ഡ്‌ പ്രിന്‍സെസ്‌ ഒഫ്‌ ഇന്ത്യ (Portraits of the people and princes of India,1844); അപ്‌ ദ്‌ കണ്ട്രി (Up the Country, 1866), ലെറ്റേഴ്‌സ്‌ ഫ്രം ഇന്ത്യ (Letters from India, 1872) എന്നിവയാണ്‌. ഇവയ്‌ക്കു പുറമേ എമിലി രണ്ടു നോവലുകളും രചിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്‌; ദ്‌ സെമി-ഡിറ്റാച്ച്‌ഡ്‌ ഹൗസ്‌ (The Semi-detached House, 1859); ദ്‌ സെമി-അറ്റാച്ച്‌ഡ്‌ കപ്പിള്‍ (The Semi-attached Couple, 1860).
